Similes and metaphors are very similar, but a simile uses like or as! Her cheeks are as red as a tomato...that's a simile! He is a couch potato. That's a metaphor! Hyperbole... extreme exaggeration! Hyperbole.. extreme exaggeration! I told you a million times to clean your room! But, I'm so hungry I could eat a horse! Personification, giving an object human-like qualities, that's personification! The tree is waving. The sun is smiling. That's personification. An onomatopoeia is a sound effect word! An onomatopoeia is a sound effect word! An onomatopoeia is a sound effect word! Like... Boom! C***h! Pow! Sizzle! Idioms are phrases that don't mean what they say! They have a special meaning anyway! It's raining cats and dogs..IDIOMS!! It's on the house...IDIOMS! Break a leg...IDIOMS! Alliteration is the repetition of the same initial sound. .
