Thinking about the people
Pleading for old mother nature
Trying hard to get their voices heard
Listening to a little bird telling the same story
Sitting on a tree in my backyard
Thinking about the River
Flowing down the mountain
Watching the water as it falls
Splashing off a’boulders
Spraying like a fountain
Whispering there’s enough of me for all
Thinking about the sky with its white clouds a’churning
Only we can save the ozone layer
The way that it keeps us safe
and stops us all from b*****g
but we just keep on poisoning the air
Thinking about the people
Pleading for old mother nature
Trying hard to get their voices heard
Listening to a little bird telling the same story
Sitting on a tree in my backyard
Thinking about the trees growing so straight and strong
Wondering if we’ll ever see the time
When all the trees will be growing free
And nobody can say
That one’s yours and this one’s mine
Thinking about the ocean so powerful and mighty
Birds and plants and fish we hold so dear
But p****n and pollute it and rob it off its bounty
Soon there will be nothing left I fear
It’s time we opened up our disbelieving eyes to what we’ve done
And realized the trouble that we’re in
When it’s too late we’ll see our fate
And understand this story
And start from the beginning once again.
Thinking about the people
Pleading for old mother nature
Trying hard to get their voices heard
Listening to a little bird telling the same story
Sitting on a tree in my backyard
