I have a small story. There was a young boy who had struggled since the very day he was born. He was diagnosed with a disease when he was 3 or 4 yrs old. He had to take medication all the way into his a***t hood. He was raised in church. At an early age he was sent to live with a family member. That family member was his safe space. His parents divorced when he was young. Then later in life he had a very bad injury and was prescribed pain medication for the injury and ended up getting addicted to the pain medication. Little later down the road he met a woman and they get married and have a child. He ended up getting in legal issues from the addiction. His wife left with his child. He continued in his addiction and was in and out of jail. Until he was indicted and sentenced. In this stint he would decide to turn his life around and follow Jesus. He was sent to treatment and he remains sober. I know people are like well who is this person. That person is me. 18 years of sobriety.
