The Slipper and the Sailor

3 hours agoAria v1
Far o’er the seas and starlit foam, A sailor wandered far from home, Through song-lit hall and lantern glow, A voice within began to show. She passed beside him, silent flame, And heaven whispered her true name. “No matter what the world may do, This woman shall belong to you.” But duty’s chains and fortune’s hand Kept love apart in alien land. The tides of w*r swept him away, And silence hushed his hope that day. Three decades passed beneath the sun, Her memory remained hard-won. Then through the glow of screens and light, Her name appeared and set things right. He crossed the sea with trembling heart, To find the dream of which he’d thought. A crystal slipper, shaped and true, Made for the size she once had told. By candle glow at dinner’s hue, He knelt and let the world slip through. Upon her shoe, the glass did rest, And truth within his vow confessed. He spoke: “My fairytale is you. Wilt thou be mine, both strong and true?” Tears filled her eyes, her voice was clear: “Aye, love, I’ve waited for thee, dear.” So glass may break and sails may roam, Yet love endures beyond the foam. A sailor’s vow, a lady’s heart, Their destiny from end to start.
