We met on a winter day, Groundhog said, “You’re here to stay.” In a Wauwatosa gym, Hearts lit up, on love’s first whim. First date, stories shared, Dreams and scars we both laid bare. We knew from that very start— Something changed inside our hearts. Twenty-one years today, Through the sunshine and the gray. Built a home, raised a child, Laughed and cried, all the while. Held on through every storm, With love that kept us warm. You’re my best friend— And I thank the stars each day For twenty-one years today. Two thousand four, we said “I do,” Built a life for me and you. In ‘05, our hearts turned gold, A tiny hand we gently hold. We learned to guide, to give, to grow— A love that’s steady, soft, and bold. Angus by her side each day, Our hearts found their way. Then Mukwonago called our name, We built a life and stoked the flame. A house we made a warm embrace, A haven full of love and grace. Lucy and Cooper guard the yard, While Kaylyn chased the highest stars. From concerts, lights, and marching lines— We cheered with pride, with tear-filled eyes. We’d ask where all that magic's from... The answer’s clear—it’s where she’s from. It came from all we’ve given here— The love, the laughs, the quiet tears. She is the best of you and me— Our living, breathing legacy. Twenty-one years today, Through the sunshine and the gray. Built a home, raised a child, Laughed and cried, all the while. Held on through every storm, With love that kept us warm. You’re my best friend— And I thank the stars each day For twenty-one years today. Now the house is quiet, still, Her room at rest, our hearts refill. We’re finding joy in simpler ways— In all we’ve built and still create. And I’d still choose you every day— Through every high, through every low, Our story’s one the angels know. Doug, you’re still the one—my love, my light, my home. Happy twenty-one years today.
