When I first saw you,
you weren’t letting anyone in—
not into the thoughts
that hid behind your silence.
Your eyes sparkled bright,
but something felt not right.
A mask, carefully worn,
stood beside you in the light.
When I see you now, I know—
why you built those walls,
why you sealed that door
to a world that wouldn’t understand.
The sparkle in your eyes
wasn't joy, but armor—
a shimmer shaped by fear
that they’d judge,
that they’d scare
the softness out of you.
When I first saw you—
when I truly saw you—
I saw you.
