Glycolysis

Glucose is the sugar we begin to break, Hexokinase acts, for phosphorylation's sake! ATP gives phosphate—just one little flick, We get Glucose-6-phosphate, nice and quick! Phosphoglucose isomerase does the shift, To Fructose-6-phosphate, with just a twist. Now Phosphofructokinase takes its cue, Adds another phosphate—that makes two! We now have Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate, Double charged and looking great! Aldolase splits it in a clever way, To Dihydroxyacetone phosphate and Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate— Let’s say “Hooray!” Triose phosphate isomerase helps them swap, So both can go forward, nonstop! Then Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase gives a spin, Makes 1,3-Bisphosphoglycerate with NADH to win! Phosphoglycerate kinase brings energy delight, ATP is made—that’s a step that’s bright! Now we’ve got 3-Phosphoglycerate, Still on track and feeling great! Phosphoglycerate mutase does its tweak, To 2-Phosphoglycerate—it’s unique! Enolase comes and pulls out water, Making Phosphoenolpyruvate—a real fire-starter! Now the final step is near, Pyruvate kinase makes it clear: Another ATP comes out the gate, And Pyruvate finishes glycolysis great! đŸŽ”
