Glasdrumman fair 0

Sweet Glasdrumman fair, Proudly she stands shining, In the morning air, Just as precious as a diamond. A toast then to Dunmore. Against all I’ll defend her. Her hills and rugged shore Are unequalled in their splendour. I’ve stood on Chimney Rock, And watched the dark clouds rollin’, Across the heather bog, And down by the sate lonnan. Where once the smugglers sailed, From Sherby cove and the Green Harbour. And manys the sailors grave, Lies beneath the cold grey water. I’ve sat around the fire, Listening to the auld ones talkin’ How Laylin had to fall, For the fairies he kept mockin’. Or how in ’43, The great fishing disaster. Every boat that put to sea, Lost a brother, son or father. Come visit for a day, And you’ll want to stay forever. Your troubles fade away, As you step it o’re the heather. See the ravens sport and f***t, Hear the curlew cry its warning. Count the endless stars at night. Watch the sunrise in the morning. From now to kingdom come, I’ll gladly sing her praises. Till all my days are done, And the Lord my soul He raises. Then I’ll swap my wings of gold, For simple wings of feather, And circle in the cold air, High above the purple heather. In sweet Glasdrumman fair.
