Ban the Day

21 days agoAria v1
Close the curtains, dim the room, Hide the light, deny the bloom. She would smile when day began, Now I curse the dawn like a bitter man. Every clock mocks silently, Each tick burns my memory. Ban the morning, bury the day, Lock the sun and turn away. Let the fog devour the street, Where the lost and lonely meet. In the bar where daylight fades, Pints and ghosts in dark parades. Rain on glass, her voice returns, In the smoke my sorrow burns. Every song’s her elegy, Played in minor misery. Ban the morning, bury the day, Let the chimneys dream away. Let the city c***e the sky, Till it forgets the will to cry. But if she walks these streets again, Through the whispering factory rain, I’ll face the dawn, I’ll let it shine, And watch her eyes dissolve in mine. Ban the morning, bury the day, Till her shadow fades away. Let the chimneys fall asleep, No more smoke, no gray to keep. And when she’s near, the light will stay, I’ll see her face in the clean new day.
