What do I do with a heart torn apart,
When silence now echoes where once lived a spark?
I trace every word that we whispered at night,
But they vanish like smoke in the edges of light.
What do I do with the thoughts in my head,
When memories haunt every breath in my bed?
They circle like ghosts on the ceiling above,
Each one a question, a scar, or a love.
What do I do with the you that I knew,
The one that I love, and will always love too?
I keep you in poems, in songs left unsung,
In echoes of laughter, when time was still young.
What do I do when I can't hold your hand,
When you're not in the place where I still choose to stand?
I whisper goodbye, though it tears me apart,
And carry you softly in corners of my heart.
